AI receptionist for electricians. Always answered.
Switchboards, EV chargers, emergency call-outs.
"Hi, you've reached Coast Electrical. Is the power off in part of the house?"
Why it matters
Why electricians use an AI receptionist.
Electricians lose more work to a ringing phone than to a higher quote. You're on a switchboard upgrade with your hands full, the phone goes, and by the time you call back the customer has booked someone else. An AI receptionist answers every call you forward to it, day and night, in a natural Australian voice.
It works out what the caller needs, whether that's a power point, an EV charger install, a safety switch that keeps tripping or a full rewire, and how urgent it is. Then it books the job into your calendar inside the hours you choose and sends you a written summary of the call, so you walk off the job knowing exactly who rang and what they want.

Everything they handle for you.
The calls you get
What callers ring electricians about.
Power out or tripping safety switches
It takes the address, what has lost power and whether anything is sparking or smelling of burning, marks the job urgent and puts it at the top of your list with the call summary.
EV charger and solar enquiries
Callers asking about chargers or battery-ready switchboards get answers from your own service list. If you haven't listed a price, it says so and books a site visit or callback instead of guessing.
Quote requests for new work
Renovations, lighting upgrades and extra circuits are scoped on the call: what rooms, roughly how much work, and when suits. You build the quote in your portal later; the customer accepts it online.
Existing customers and follow-ups
Customers chasing a booked job, a certificate or an invoice are logged against their record, so you see the history in one place and call back with the context already in front of you.
After hours
What happens when you're closed.
Electrical faults don't keep business hours. After hours it still answers, works out whether the problem is urgent, and books into the first free time inside your booking hours, with at least an hour's notice. If you take after-hours call-outs, include those hours when you set it up. Every urgent call lands at the top of your lead list and comes to you as an email summary the moment the call ends.
What usually marks a call as urgent
- Sparking, burning smells or scorch marks
- No power to the whole house
- A safety switch that will not reset
- Exposed or damaged wiring
Illustrative call
What a call could sound like.
An illustrative example written for this page: not a recording, and not a real customer.
- CallerHi, half the power in my house has gone and the safety switch won't stay up.
- AI receptionistThat sounds like it needs looking at soon. Is anything sparking or smelling like it's burning?
- CallerNo, nothing like that. Just no lights in the kitchen or lounge.
- AI receptionistOkay. I've got tomorrow at 7:30am free. Can I grab your address and a mobile number?
- CallerYes, 14 Smith Street, and it's 0412 000 000.
- AI receptionistDone. You'll get a confirmation text and email now, and I've marked this urgent for the team.
Good to know
What it will and won't do.
- It answers only from your own information. It won't give electrical safety advice it hasn't been given, and it never quotes a price you haven't listed.
- If a caller is outside the area you cover, it politely tells them and still saves their details, so you decide whether the job is worth the drive.
- Callers who hang up before it is sorted get a text within seconds once your business SMS number is set up, and the conversation carries on by SMS.

Questions
Common questions from electricians.
Can an AI receptionist tell an urgent electrical job from a routine one?
Yes. Urgency is worked out on the call from what the caller describes, such as sparking, burning smells or total power loss. Urgent jobs go to the top of your lead list and you get an email summary as soon as the call ends. Anything it is unsure about is flagged for you rather than guessed.
Will it quote my prices for things like EV charger installs?
Only the prices you give it. It answers "how much?" from your own price list and never makes up a number. If a job needs a site visit to price, it says so and books the visit or a callback.
Can it book jobs for more than one electrician?
Yes. Each team member can connect their own calendar, and it books into the right person’s free time inside the booking hours you set.
Do I need to change my business number?
No. You keep your number and forward it to your Velobiz number. Most electricians forward on no-answer, so it only picks up the calls you miss while you are on the tools.
What happens to leads from hipages or other marketplaces?
Forward the lead emails to your Velobiz lead address. They are read the moment they arrive, replied to in minutes and followed up. For marketplaces with an accept window you also get an instant SMS so you can accept in time.
